CHRISTMAS came early for five lucky neighbours on Saturday after they all won £25,000 on a lottery.

The residents of Cotswold Walk in Fareham thought Father Christmas had shown up two weeks early when they got the knock on the door to be told they had won the five-figure sum via the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Mum-of-two Sasha Geddei-Nabbei, 35, said she ‘couldn’t stop crying’ after receiving the cheque.

She is now looking to take her children away on holiday for some winter sun.

She said: ‘I have a teenage daughter and a seven year-old-son and we’ve never been on a plane before so we’re going to go somewhere sunny and warm.

‘When I realised how much money I’d won, I couldn’t stop crying!

‘My daughter turned to me and said “we are not poor anymore mum” which was lovely.’

Sasha added: ‘I had been scrimping and saving for Christmas so this

win could not have come at a better time.’

Lorry driver Martin Ray, 51 and his partner Lorraine Lawton, 47, a care assistant both won £25,000 and are already targeting new cars and holidays with the new funds.

Lorraine said: ‘I think we’re going to get a new car and we’d already planned to go on holiday to Greece next year so we’ll have extra money when we’re there.’

She added: ‘We’ve both played People’s Postcode Lottery for a few years now, it’s so easy to sign up.

‘We don’t miss the £10 direct debit each month and now it’s just great to be a winner.’

Patricia Jarman, 86, also won the big prize and said she’d like to use it on getting some home improvements.

The fifth winner was unable to receive their cheque on the day.

For Fareham, it is the second street prize win in the last six months after four people in Hewett Close, Titchfield bagged the same prize in July.

Amongst them was mother and daughter pair Sharon and Katrina Walcroft who said they would use the money as a deposit on a new home.

The charity lottery has raised more than £161.6m for charity.
