CHARITIES have been given a boost after HMS Collingwood handed them donations from its open day.

The nine charities have all been handed the donations that were raised during the training base’s open day in June.
The charities were; The Rainbow Centre, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, Y Services for Young People, Warsash Sea Cadets, HMS Collingwood Volunteer Cadet Corps, Solent MS Therapies, Y Coy Hampshire & Isle of White Army Cadet Force, Charlie’s Beach Hut and the Fareham branch of Parkinsons UK.

Captain Andy Jordan, commanding officer of HMS Collingwood said: ‘It is a real pleasure for me to be able to present these cheques.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole team who deliver the day itself, we wouldn’t be able to support these charities without collective efforts.’

The open day, held in June, is an annual event, attracting over 7,000 people with a variety of attractions on offer, such as the field gun competition, and a fun fair.
