A JAZZ event celebrated it’s first birthday in some style with a special visit by a mayor.

Councillor Connie Hockley was present at the celebration of the Jazz in the Green event at Sarisbury Green, Community Centre earlier this month.

Since launching back in November 2015 - the event has gone on to become one of Fareham’s premier jazz events with 10 bands performing to over 800 fans over the year.

This month’s concert saw Kevin Grenfell, Richard Leach and their band Slide by Slide perform at the event.

Jazz on the Green’s founder Barry Quantrill said: ‘We’re really proud of what Jazz on the Green has achieved in our first year, the whole team has worked really hard to bring live jazz and swing music to the area.

‘We have loved meeting fellow fans who share our enthusiasm and love of the music.’
