I can remember heading down to Coates Auctions with my mum, Angela Kent, when I was about 13.

We used to pop in during the day for a look and then pop back in the evening to buy our chosen lots.

My mum used to do a lot of sewing and would pick up fabrics to make clothes for me, and my auntie Debbie Kent would pick up all kinds of vases, furniture and ornaments.

There was even a time I bought a bike and a pile of old car stereos, no idea why I didn’t even have a car!

Coates Auctions stopped a while ago and Gosport has been an auction-free zone for a while but 19-year-old Jack Quainton-Davis wanted to bring the auction back to Gosport and he has done just that.

‘Everyone loves a good auction,’ said Jack the young entrepreneur from Gosport.

Jack spent a lot of his childhood living in Spain with his mum, dad and his brothers but he also attended Brune Park School in Military Road.

Jack is very excited to be holding his very first auction at Gosport Auction House in Park Street in Gosport, down what I call ‘The Piggaries’.

Today is the launch and anyone can take in their ‘lots’ to be sold by Jack but the deadline is midday.

The first auction starts at 6.30pm and there is a small admission charge for over-16s of 50p.

There will also be a burger van and refreshments available at The Shack.

You can call Jack on (023) 9258 0928 or for more information go to thegosportauctionhouse.com

I look forward to seeing Jack and his team on the night and wish them every success in the world for this new venture.

Anna-Louise Stothard is an 11-year-old that attended the Gosport Artfest and she told me she is raising money for Harbour Cancer Support Centre by cycling 15 miles around Gosport.

Her mum Louise Stothard said: ‘I’m just so proud of her wanting to help people with this awful disease.’

The ride takes place on March 27.
