A 24-YEAR-OLD man is in hospital with a serious head injury after members of the public were assaulted in Gosport on Wednesday.

The man, from Gosport, was taken to hospital following the incident in North Cross Street shortly after 11.30pm.

A 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Gosport, have been arrested in connection with obstructing police in relation to the incident.

They have both been bailed until August 22 pending further enquiries.

A 24-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
