A PRIMARY school hopes to encourage a greater environment for reading after revamping their library.

Gomer Infants in Pyrford Close, Gosport, has rejuvenated its reading area to have a forest theme that goes with a school project as it looks to encourage outdoor learning and awareness of local habitats.

Headteacher Sarah-Jayne Aspinall said: ‘We received a grant of £2,500 to help decorate the library.

‘The old one was not as child-friendly but now the children are able to see the front covers as the books that they want to read.

‘We’ve noticed that children are taking a lot more time in choosing their books and are spending more time reading in the area

‘They are also being really respectful in the new space.’
