THREE marine charities have received vital funding.

Haslar Marina in Gosport held its annual barbecue earlier in the summer and raised £2,478.

The money raised has been distributed equally to Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, Gosport Sea Cadets and the Little Brig Sailing Trust, all of which are run by volunteers.

Cheques were presented at the Dean and Reddyhoff stand at Southampton Boat Show

Ben Lippiett, manager at Haslar, said: ‘Gosport Sea Cadets and the Little Brig Sailing Trust are local charities that rely heavily on public support and benefit the community hugely.

‘All represent worthy causes, introducing a range of youngsters to the joys of getting afloat and then looking after them as they do so.

‘Haslar’s berth-holders supported this choice with their usual energy, generosity and gusto, we salute you!’
