REV KAREN MITCHELL: JOIN US FOR TEA WITH FATHER CHRISTMAS

In just over two weeks Christmas Day will be here and we will once again be sharing the true meaning of Christmas.

We will remember the birth of Christ, a baby born into poverty and whose life, ministry, death and resurrection gave us the chance of peace with God and one another.

I wonder if you are you dreaming of a white Christmas this year?

We are, at St Matthew’s Church in Bridgemary and St Thomas Church in Elson.

This weekend sees us transforming St Matthew’s into a winter wonderland, complete with trees, gnomes, Frosty the Snowman, and hot chocolate with marshmallows, to name just a few of the attractions.

Tomorrow Father Christmas is coming to town – well to Bridgemary, anyway.

At 5pm we have tea with Father Christmas.

Spaces are limited, but there are still a few available. It costs £3.50 for each child, including a sandwich tea and a present from Father Christmas.

If you would like to book a space, please call 01329 822487.

Then on Saturday from 11am until 3pm, we are having a Christmas fayre.

Why not come along, have some fun, win a teddy from the soft toy tombola, try your luck on the vicar’s chocolate stall or bottle tombola, snap up those last minute gifts, or even start your Christmas shopping?

Then in the evening Southampton Gay Men’s Chorus will be performing at 7pm.

Tickets cost £7.50, to include mince pies and mulled wine, and are available from 01329 822487 or on the door. The winter wonderland ends with a carol service on Sunday at 6pm followed by refreshments.

So why not come along to one or all of the events and enjoy walking in a winterwonderland?

It would be lovely to see you.
