A MAN has been arrested after a 69-year-old man suffered a head injury when he was pushed over.

The pensioner was walking along Bury Road with his wife, who was in a wheelchair, at 5.50pm yesterday when he had a dispute with another man.

The attacker, who was on a bicycle, pushed the elderly man over, leading him to hit his head on the road.

It is believed the cyclist, who is in his late 20s or early 30s, then took off towards Stoke Road.

The victim is currently being treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for a serious head injury.

A 28-year-old man, from Gosport, has now been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police are now appealing for witnesses with anyone who saw what happened or has any information asked to call them on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
