An air support helicopter was called in last night to aid police in their search for a missing 78-year-old Gosport woman.

Police are continuing to ask for help in tracing Joyce Crouthers, who lives in Honeysuckle Close and who was last seen at 4.50pm on Wednesday.

A spokeman for Hampshire Police said that the search for the pensioner was ongoing.

NPAS Bournemouth tweeted just before midnight last night: ‘Night crew have been helping @HantsPolice with a missing person search in the Lee-on-Solent area. Enqs on-going.’

The helicopter crew spent the evening combing the wooded areas in and around Fareham using a thermal imaging camera.

Her family are worried as Joyce is without her medication and may not know where she is.

She’s been described as white, 5ft 6ins, large build and very short brown hair.

Joyce may be wearing dark clothes and carrying a small, dark bag.
