PROUD families have turned out to support Gosport hometown hero Alex Thomson.
Supporters have lined the shoreline near Gosport Ferry terminal to welcome home the sailing legend.
Nick Groom, 55, has come along with wife Gina, 45, and their children William, nine, and Hannah, six.
Nick, of Gosport, said: ‘He has just done an amazing thing. I have been following him and seeing how he’s been getting on. It became a ritual. It’s a fantastic achievement.’
Steve Brown, 62, and his daughter Melanie, 29, have made the trip up from Poole in Dorset.
Melanie said : ‘He is amazing, he pushes the limits and his determination to keep going when he was a long way away from first place is amazing. He never gave up.’
