COMMUNITY projects could benefit from a grant of £1,000.

Each of Havant borough’s 38 councillors has been allocated £1,000 to distribute to projects and initiatives, to ensure communities can fund specific needs in their area.

The scheme, which launched last year as a pilot, has been confirmed as an ongoing fixture owing to its success in helping more than 70 groups and organisations.

Voluntary and not-for-profit organisations that benefit the borough can apply for grants of between £20 and £1,000 towards a particular project.

Each ward within the borough has two or more councillors, meaning there is at least £2,000 per ward up for grabs.

Organisations are invited to seek out their local councillor to enquire about this funding.

Claire Hughes, head of communications and community, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to continue supporting local organisations in projects that will truly benefit individual communities.

‘We received more than 100 applications during the pilot period of this project and are looking forward to receiving many more over the coming months.’

The deadline for applications for this financial year is February 16, 2018. Visit havant.gov.uk for more details.
