A SHOPPING centre has lined up a jam-packed summer of fun family events.

The Meridian Shopping Centre in Havant will host everything from craft workshops to celebrity appearances over the holidays.

Starting this week, free kids’ clubs will be held every Wednesday at the centre on Elm Lane from 11am to 3pm.

The centre has teamed up with Havant Library to promote The Summer Reading Challenge, an initiative which will encourage kids aged four to 11 to read at least six library books over their break from school.

Children can also enter a Roald Dahl colouring competition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the author’s birth from July 27 to August 3.

The winner will receive a selection of Roald Dahl books, courtesy of WHSmith.

To celebrate this year’s Olympics in Rio on August 10, shoppers will be entertained by two giant carnival birds flown in from Brazil.

The summer of fun will be capped off by a hula-hooping masterclass from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Lisa Sampson on August 31.

Several arts and crafts workshops will also be held at the centre throughout the summer.
