Have your say

DO you ever wonder what you are here on earth for?

Do you wonder what your mission is? If you were asked what the mission of your life is, the focus of your life, most of us would have no idea.

But we all have a mission, a life focus we are living out, whether we know it or not.

Our mission might be to work hard so that we can make as much money as possible, or to protect our family, or to enjoy life as much as possible.

Of course, these aspirations may be both good and bad.

But the point is that whatever our mission is, that will control our life – even if we don’t quite know what it is, or even if it is not really exactly what we want deep down.

Do you remember this phrase: ‘Your mission, should you choose to accept it’ – that is the classic line from Mission Impossible. They even use it again in the Tom Cruise remakes.

In the original TV series, there would be a little tape recorder that would play with a voice explaining what the mission was.

After that. it would self-destruct so nobody else could go on a mission because that agent was the only one assigned to that mission.

I never saw an episode of Mission Impossible where the agent said: ‘I’m not going to do that one.

‘I’m not feeling it today. I’m going to stay at home.’

That just never happened.

The assumption is that if you are an agent, you are going to take the mission.

Here at Cowplain Evangelical Church, we’ve just started a spiritual growth campaign called ‘Life On Mission’.

Most of us who know and follow Jesus want to tell others about him.

We want to live life on mission, making sure that at the centre of our lives is Jesus’ command to: ‘Go into all the world and make disciples.’

But when it comes to actually engaging in evangelism, we hesitate.

Sharing our faith should be natural, easy; but it isn’t always. Until now.

‘Life on Mission’ is a six-week spiritual growth campaign that helps us understand what it is to be on mission.

You would be very welcome to join us in the journey of discovery.

Or if you can’t get to the church, watch the weekly messages on YouTube.
