THE charity which runs two popular community leisure centres has been granted a prestigious award.

Horizon Leisure Centres in Havant and Waterlooville have been re-accredited with Quest awards – which marks organisations out for their top sport and leisure facilities.

It is independently run and reviews how effective and efficient an organisation is and provides guidance on how to continue to make improvements.

Following a visit from a mystery customer, the centres were visited by an external assessor.

The facilities were then inspected and members of staff from all levels of the organisation were interviewed.

Howard Broad, the chief executive of Horizon Leisure Centres, said: ‘Receiving the Quest award for the 10th year in succession is a fantastic achievement for Horizon Leisure Centres.

‘The entire team works hard to ensure that all areas of our operation meet the strict criteria of Quest.

‘This recognition rewards the team’s efforts and professional management of the centres and provides reassurance to the local community and to our commitment to continue to provide high standards of service.’

In the past few years millions of pounds have been invested in revamping the gyms and installing new play equipment.

Horizon is a charitable trust established in 1997 to operate Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres in partnership with Havant Borough Council.
