THE BOY who was pushed into a car boot and driven away in Portsmouth has said it was just a prank.

Hampshire Constabulary released an appeal after a report from a member of the public who believed they were witnessing a serious incident.

The person witnessed a car pull into Penarth Avenue, in Drayton before the driver put a youth into the car boot and drive off.

The boy and another witness have both since come forward to confirm it was just a prank.

Hampshire Constabulary have thanked members of the public for sharing the appeal.

A spokesman said: ‘Our priority was to confirm the safety of the youths involved, which we have now been able to do.

‘We would always encourage members of the public to call police if they witness any suspicious activity, in order for us to be able to investigate the circumstances.’
