A VOLUNTARY animal group is celebrating after receiving a generous donation.

Lost and Found Cats in Portsmouth was given £300 by Galaxy Hot Chocolate, which helps small community projects, groups and charities across the UK and Ireland, by donating cash awards to support people and projects.

Lots and Found Cats was set up in 2013 by Jayne Stevens as a Facebook page, on which people could post pictures of their lost cats in hope of finding them.

The group then expanded and has so far reunited 276 cats with their owners.

Carol-Penny, co-founder of the group, said: ‘This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund will enable us to buy urgently needed equipment, including humane traps and even more scanners.

‘This means we can reunite more cats and kittens with their owners.

‘We are desperately fundraising to achieve a charity status so we can gain further exposure, meaning more chances of income to keep us going.’
