AN EXTRA 75 foster carers are needed in Portsmouth, it has been revealed.

The figures have been released in the second week of foster care fortnight.

Portsmouth City Council said it has 250 approved foster carers but needs another 75.

Councillor Ryan Brent, cabinet member for children’s social care at Portsmouth City Council, said ‘We need to recruit foster carers from all backgrounds, whatever your age, experience, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, marital or employment status, whether single or part of a couple, and whether you own or rent your own home.

‘The event offers an ideal opportunity for prospective carers to find out all they need to know.’
