DETERMINED firefighters have raised thousands of pounds on a 13-mile hike in full kit carrying an 80kg ladder.

He said: ‘Loads of people were supporting us and were very generous.

‘It was tough in full fire kit and breathing apparatus over that sort of distance but we like challenges.’

An incredidle £4,788 was raised after teams of six carried the 10.5-metre ladder.

The huge sum will be split equally between The Firefighters Charity and Football For Cancer.
