FIVE charities are the latest to receive grants from a charitable fund founded by Gunwharf Quays shopping centre.

Solent MS Therapy Centre, The LifeHouse, Age UK Portsmouth, Wessex Cancer Trust and The Kings Theatre successfully applied for funding from the ARISE scheme.

£1,000 was given to the multiple sclerosis centre to update their treatment equipment, while The LifeHouse and Age UK received a shared donation of £1,500 to improve their kitchen facilities.

ARISE also gave £700 to Wessex Cancer Trust to soundproof one of their therapy rooms, and The Kings Theatre was boosted by a donation of £625 to help towards their community engagement project with three primary schools.

Colin Wilding, General Manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘Equipment is often crucial to the day-to-day running of charities. This summer’s ARISE grants have given a much needed upgrade to vital equipment, some of which were up to a decade old.’
