A NEW charity initiative in Portsmouth is aiming to bring help to those at risk from food poverty and isolation.

FoodCycle Portsmouth has created Pompey Preserves, a group which will be donating jams, preserves and pickles to those in dire need of aid.

The aim is to raise the much needed funds necessary to continue our work

They will be at Tesco Fratton on Saturday, July 30, promoting their new scheme and doing some fundraising.

Megan Saunders, hub co-ordinator at FoodCycle Portsmouth, said: ‘The aim is to raise the much-needed funds necessary to continue our work. These take place every Tuesday evening at the John Pounds Centre, and Thursday evening at King’s Church, Somerstown – helping to promote social inclusion by providing a friendly and welcoming environment to eat with others.’
