Mystery of the old Portsmouth map continues to unfold

THE mystery of the age of an old map of Portsmouth discovered by Howard Thompson at a carboot sale, as reported in yesterday's News, has been solved

Now, the Portsmouth History Centre has confirmed that the map can be dated between 1922 and 1935.

Archivist Dr John Stedman said: ‘The red lines drawn on the main roads probably represent tram lines, and those ran until 1936.’
