The whole of Portsmouth will be behind Olivia Breen tonight when the Paralympic star goes for gold in her final event of the Games.

The City of Portsmouth Athletics Club sprinter will be hoping to take home a medal from the women’s 4x100m T35-38 final, which is set to start to 11.30pm.

During her time in Rio Olivia has already achieved a 7th place finish in the T38 100m final and 12th place in the T38 long jump.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr David Fuller, said he would be staying up late to watch Olivia in action.

He added: ‘I have really been enjoying watching it all. I’m a bit nervous for tonight though.

‘It is fantastic that these Games are going on and I will be watching.

‘Hopefully Olivia will be able to show off a gold medal as well when she gets home.’

Cllr Fuller has already invited all Portsmouth-based athletes to have tea with him at Guildhall when they return from Rio.

Olivia and her teammates will be running at 11.30pm tonight. Coverage will be on Channel 4.
