Public urged to be vigilant after attempted knife robberies in Portsmouth

DETECTIVES are urging people to be vigilant after three attempted robberies saw victims threatened with knives.

Police are investigating three robberies in Portsmouth, with detectives believing they may be linked.

The first incident saw a 34-year-old man threatened to hand over his wallet by a man with a knife outside Kwikimart in Kingston Road, Buckland last Thursday at 3.50am. The victim ran off and was unhurt.

A second incident happened on the same day at about 5.50am, in the area of London Avenue, North End in which a 66-year-old was approached by a man with a knife who asked him for money. The victim had nothing stolen and was unhurt.

The final incident happened at around 9.15pm last night in which a 24-year-old victim was walking along Langley Road, Buckland when a man tried to grab his phone, leading to a small injury to the victim’s stomach.
