MORE than a dozen firefighters have been battling a house blaze in Southsea this afternoon.

The fire erupted on the first floor of a home in Montgomerie Road shortly before 1.50pm and threatened the row of 15 terraced houses.

Three fire crews from the nearby Southsea Fire Station were dispatched to tackle the fire.

Officers extinguished the blaze and are now dampening down the scene to make sure it is safe.

A 22-year-old woman, believed to be in the home at the time of the incident, was given oxygen therapy by firefighters and is currently being treated by paramedics.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Nobody else was reported to be injured.
