LIFEBOAT crews have rescued a teenage boy who swam out to a floating jetty.

Portsmouth Lifeboat and the coast rescue team were called to the area off the shore at Portchester Sailing Club.

A spokesman for the coastguard said they were called at 8.29pm to a report of the 13-year-old boy swimming out from near the club to the jetty and becoming stuck there.

He became too tired to swim back and his friend called the coastguard, the spokesman added.

The rescue finished at around 10.40pm.

Both boys have been handed over to their parents.
