THIS WEEK IN 1974: Suspected '˜bogus' milkman was declared proper

Police in Southsea discovered that a suspected '˜bogus' milkman thought to be operating in the area was, in fact, nothing more than a real milkman.

A spokesman for the police said that a new milkman – not yet issued with a uniform – had been asked to take money from a customer at her house by the regular milkman.

Unfortunately, he appeared to have visited the wrong house, where he asked for the money, and was given it.

Thankfully, the matter was later cleared up.
