THIS WEEK IN 1993: Hampshire schools prepared to take on four-year-olds

The vast majority of schools throughout Portsmouth and the wider Havant area were preparing to take on children as young as four in September.

A survey conducted by The News showed most headteachers would admit them on a part-time basis at first.

This policy followed guidelines laid down by Hampshire County Council which recommended children who had just turned four should start with three morning sessions a week.
