UPDATE: Police marine unit to patrol Southsea seafront after clothes found

Members of Hampshire Constabulary's marine unit will continue to patrol the Southsea area after the discovery of mens clothing.

Coastguard and police teams searched the area yesterday morning after the discovery near The Coffee Cup in Eastney Esplanade.

The search was called off in the afternoon due to bad light, but marine boats will continue to keep a watch over the area near the seafront.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the patrol would be ongoing over the next few days.

Hampshire Constabulary said a jacket, jogging bottom and a hoodie had been found.

A search and rescue helicopter, based in Lee-on-the-Solent, was also involved in the operation.
