FAMILIES will be able to experience a Victorian Christmas next week inside an historic fort.

Fareham’s Fort Nelson will again be hosting the annual festive spectacular, which takes place from Monday to Friday, December 23.

Visitors to the Royal Armouries museum, in Portsdown Hill Road, will be invited to gather round the range in the garrison kitchen for some festive entertainment and to experience the sights, smells and sounds of festive party in 1896.

As well as the entertainment, museum-goers will be given a tour of the officers’ mess, which is not normally open to the public, while sipping on glasses of warm mulled wine or non-alcoholic punch and tucking into a mince pie.

Sessions run at 11am, noon, and 3pm. Tickets are £2.50 for adults, with children under 16 entering for free.

Numbers are limited to 20 per session, with each lasting approximately 45 minutes.

To book, call 01329 848532 or visit the museum’s office.
