Ken Ebbens is from the organisation Portsmouth Carers’ Voice. Here he looks forward to the upcoming carers’ information day.

PORTSMOUTH Carers’ Voice (PCV) is run by carers for carers and aims to represent the interests and concerns of carers throughout Portsmouth.

Health Watch Portsmouth (HWP) is the independent champion for health and social care in the city, providing local people with a powerful voice for carers and patients and their views and experiences.

HWP is influenced by its members, the public and local organisations.

Both PCV and HWP, working together, aim to put local people and their views at the heart of social care and health services in Portsmouth.

The carers’ information day has been brought back by popular demand by both organisations.

Many carers felt that previous such events proved very useful for them and those they cared for.

It will take place at Portsmouth Guildhall on Tuesday, October 11, from 10am to 3pm.

All carers are welcome to drop in at anytime.

At 1pm there will be a talk by Innes Richens, chief operating officer of the clinical commissioning group (CCG), and director of adult social services, to explain the plans for closer working between the council and health services.

It will be followed by a question and answer session.

This event will provide an opportunity for carers to come together and discuss their main concerns, as well as having in attendance stands from a range of support organisations, including charities, community groups, public bodies and commercial companies.

It is planned for this to become an annual event.

So I’m putting a call out to all organisations.

If carers are your target group, there is still time to come along and secure a stand – on a first come basis.

The Guildhall has easy access for unloading equipment and stands from 8am.

A table and chair will be provided for each organisation. Commercial organisations are asked to pay a small charge of £20 to cover the administration cost.

Charities and not-for-profit organisations, including public sector, can book for free.

Places are limited so book now to confirm your place.

To book your place, go to eventbrite.co.uk and search for Portsmouth Carers Voice Information Day.
