A Waterlooville-based filmmaker’s micro-budget, independent film has been nominated for best drama at the National Film Awards.

Apple Park Films’ production Little Pieces has been nominated for the award, which takes place on March 31 in London.

Filmed, cut and finished for £6,000, Little Pieces is the debut feature film of writer/director Adam Nelson.

It is going up against Oscar and Bafta-nominated heavyweights such as Lady in the Van, 45 Years, The Danish Girl, and Youth.

Mr Nelson said: ‘It’s an honour to be nominated alongside films of such a calibre and to be invited to attend is enough of a victory; that said I wouldn’t mind taking the award away from a heavyweight film either.’
