Pallant House Gallery in Chichester has been given a £191,336 grant for a new on-site fine art store.

As part of the Arts Council England’s small scale capital grants programme, the money will be used to convert an existing building into a fine art store with moveable racking and climatic controls.

The gallery is home to one of the best permanent collections of modern British art in the country.

The project will ensure that the gallery’s collections are stored in a safe, effective and appropriate storage, increase storage capacity and improve access to its artworks.

Marc Steene, executive director at Pallant House Gallery, said: ‘The gallery is thrilled to have received funding from the Arts Council through its Small Scale Capital Grant towards the development of a new
art store at Pallant House Gallery.

‘This important project will enable the gallery to modernise its facilities and provide wider access to its important collection of modern British art.’
