You wait 70 years for one, but 92 vintage buses turned up at once on Sunday, at a rally run by a local appreciation society.
Hundreds of people attended the Provincial Society's Provincial Bus Rally at Stokes Bay, Gosport, where 92 vintage buses, including one from the 1930s, were on display.

Society chairman John Sherwin said: 'It's been a great day. Lots of people have come out and it's good we've been able to have so many vintage buses on display for them.

'I think we were helped by the fact that it was bad weather on Saturday and good weather on Sunday, so people came out, but it's been a lovely day and everyone's had a great time.'

The buses on show were 'open' for the public to take a look around, and later in the day 70 of the vehicles took part in a parade along Stokes Bay Road, Grange Road, Forton Road and Jellicoe Avenue.

Passengers included Gosport Mayor Councillor Diane Searle and the society's honorary president Richard Soper.

They rode in a 1940s bus which had been operated in Gosport and the surrounding area by Provincial.

Mr Sherwin said: 'People really liked the buses from the 1930s and 1940s and it's great they were able to ride in a bus which served during the war years.'

A great day out , completly free including a bus ride in a old bus. With this event and the BMX event in Grange Road 2 great day's out in Gosport and both FREE! Meanwhile Councilor Chegwyn's festival wanted £30 each to listen to some musicians in a circus tent!
Well done the provincial society for organising a fun and interesting day , my kids thoroughly enjoyed looking at and "playing" in the buses and also well done to the Gosport BMX club for a great spectacle.

The best one yet, well done the Provincial Society. However it should not have been "FREE" bryan davis! I would hope that you made a donation to the Society as I and many others did - it costs a lot of money to keep those vehicles in a road worthy condition, not to mention the fuel for the "FREE" rides!

Just interesting to note the use of the term "free" for the event at Stokes Bay. Mr Chegwyn was forced to move his festival as the council were asking for a considerable sum of money for the use of the land. Did the Provincial Society (a fine bunch nonetheless)have to pay or did the council see fit to remove this requirement for the land use as it had nothing to do with music or Peter Chegwyn?

You sound very much like a skinflint. I suppose you don't go to the cinema where they also charge for the entertainment. Why don't you just keep to the subject rather than get in digs about people who are actually doing something for Gosport.
