Boxers are to pack a punch and raise a heavyweight amount of money for Blue2Day.
Portsmouth Amateur Boxing Club is to donate a chunk of the takings from its boxing tournament at Paulsgrove Community Centre on the afternoon of Saturday, May 10 to our Blue2Day fund.

And there will also be collectors raising cash for the Blue2Day charity, the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.

We've named Friday, May 16 Blue2Day – the follow-up to our amazing Blue Day, a show of support for Pompey which raised £50,000 for the trust.

We're asking as many readers as possible to take part in blue-themed fund-raising events on the day, and several events will also be taking place during Blue Week – the run-up to Pompey appearing in the FA Cup final.

Boxers from across the south will be coming to take on the city's own fighters at the tournament and organisers hope for a big turnout on the day.

Head coach Tony Hoile said: 'We're going to deck the whole place out with Pompey flags and make the whole tournament Pompey FC themed, it's going to be a great day.

'When we heard about Blue Week we just had to get involved and be a part of it – it's a great event.'

There will be 16 bouts on the day, with three two- minute rounds, and among the boxers taking part are Frankie Brooks, Freddie Toov, Josh Pritchard, Gary Jefferies and Danny Grant. Fighters from all age groups from 11 to seniors will be seen on the day.

Tony said: 'It will be a family day and children are welcome to come.'

The tournament begins at 2pm in Paulsgrove Community Centre in Marsden Road, Pauls-grove. For details call Tony on 07774 149338.
