Young Harrison Clinton smiles triumphantly after catching this beauty in a pond.
The youngster was taking part in a safari day at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Clanfield.
But instead of looking for lions, tigers, and bears, it was creepy-crawlies they were hunting.
Harrison, six, found a stickleback in one pond, but there were some surprise discoveries for the budding zoologists. One staff member found a slowworm – which is not a worm but a reptile – under a rock.
Becky Bolton, education officer at Queen Elizabeth County Park, said: 'The kids absolutely loved it.
'It was bucketing it down with rain, but they had a whale of a time. They found lots of little creatures.
'One of our volunteers found a slowworm, and showed the children. It's basically a legless lizard.'
