Young folk singer Chris Ricketts is getting behind Pompey and our Blue2Day with his very own song to spur the team onto FA Cup glory.
The Guide award winner has penned Pompey and Proud to celebrate the Blues' trip to Wembley.

The life-long Pompey fan hopes the song will inspire the players to lift the famous old trophy on May 17.

And he wants the city to get behind our Blue2Day day to raise cash again for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.

The first Blue Day last month raised more than £50,000 for the trust and already companies and schools from across the area are signing up to our role of honour to take part in what is already looking like a great day.

Chris, of Langstone Road, Portsmouth, said: 'I wrote the song with my friend Todd Hooker.

'We wrote it in about six hours, so could have done better with longer but we're pleased with it.

'We wanted to include the last time Pompey won the FA Cup in 1939 and how proud everyone is off Pompey being at Wembley again.'

The News' Blue Picnic this Saturday will kick off a week of Blue events with lots of local bands signing up.

Chris unfortunately can't make the event at the bandstand on Southsea Common but has urged music lovers to go along and help raise money for the charity.

'The picnic is going to be a great day.

'I'm gutted I can't be there to sing my song and join the other bands who will be entertaining,' he said.

'I've got to go to Northumberland that day and just can't get out of it, otherwise I'd definitely be there.

'It sounds like it will be a great day.

'And Blue Day was such a good day I can't wait for Blue2Day.'
