Portsmouth steamed into the past for a special event at the Historic Dockyard.
The age of steam was recreated with colourful characters, historic exhibits and interactive fun.

Children's classic Ivor the Engine made a special appearance at the Celebration of Steam to sing songs and tell stories at the weekend. Spring-born lambs, calves, donkeys and ponies, which were regular features in the Welsh illustrated tales, also turned out, courtesy of the Kidsrome Farm.

The family attractions were accompanied by historic exhibits including traction engines and road locomotives at work, showman's engines, miniatures, steam boats and model railways.

Families crowded the dockyard and enjoyed a ride-on railway and steam fairground attractions, as well as a host of costumed re-enactors who interacted with the crowds.
