Staff from a hotel in Portsmouth have been out in force doing their bit to clean up the city.
The Marriott workers have tidied up the shoreline which runs alongside Southampton Road in Paulsgrove.

The team donned fancy dress for the occasion as they cleaned the stretch of shoreline running from Port Solent to Vosper Thornycroft shipyard.

They collected 15 bags of rubbish, plastic building materials, a shopping trolley and a bike before the tide came in.

Barend-Jan Schreuder, general manager of the Portsmouth Marriott hotel, said: 'Marriott International is very committed to the local communities around us and our spirit to serve the community and environment is very important in our organisation.

'We are always happy to give back to the community in which we live and will be taking part in many more events like this throughout 2010.

'The Portsmouth Marriott team enjoy getting involved in the community and working on ongoing projects with the Mary Rose School and with the Portsmouth City Council to help clean up the environment and the communities around them.'
