It's the dance everyone's doing whether they are seven or 70 years old.
Schoolchildren, shoppers and pensioners have all been doing the Kanu – re-enacting the unforgettable dance performed by Pompey's FA Cup goal hero after he scored his Wembley winner on Saturday.

We took to the streets to get Pompey fans Doing The Kanu in Commercial Road, Portsmouth. And youngsters at Copnor Junior School in Portsmouth joined in the fun.

Young folk singer Chris Ricketts wrote some music to accompany the smooth moves which got everyone dancing in the street.

Following our step by step guide in The News yesterday, we got fans to take a step to the left, a step to the right and then bopto the beat, playing an invisible piano and tugging at their shirts.

Kanu performed the dance effortlessly – but it took our novices a bit of getting used to.

Laura Sallis, 17, of Fareham, said: 'I never realised he did that much of a celebration. It thought it was a bit simpler but he did quite a few moves.''

Friend Grace Sedgley, 18, of Stubbington, said: 'We watched the game at Lee Tennis Club with some Cardiff fans in front of us who weren't too happy. That goal and dance will stay in my memory for a long time.'

Even pensioner Joyce Frost had a go.

The 74-year-old of Moneyfield Avenue in Copnor, Portsmouth, said: 'Kanu's a very good player. He saved the day though I don't know why he was trying to play the piano afterwards.'
