A ROCK band is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for a little girl who was born with a rare eye condition.
One-year-old Izabelle Evans is blind and her only hope of being able to see again is via pioneering stem -ell treatment being carried out in China.

Portsmouth band, Shotgun Smile, are putting on a gig at the Milton Arms, in Milton, Portsmouth, on
Saturday to help towards the £30,000 cost of the flights and the treatment.

Lead singer Jon Wheeler said he was so moved when he read Izabelle's story in The News that he knew he had to help out in any way he could.

'Very often you read stories like Izabelle's in the paper and feel sad and then turn the page.

'I couldn't do that this time because I was struck by the fact that if the family actually get this £30,000 they will see results.

'The money will make a real difference to her life.

'I was so touched by how hard her parents are trying to get this treatment for her.

'I took the paper into the next band practice and all the lads were well up for trying to help.'

Izabelle's mother Hollie McHugh and father James Evans, from Hayling Island, are making great strides towards raising the cash for their little girl to make the trip to China.

Miss McHugh, 22, said: 'They asked us if they could play for Izzie and we said of course you can.

'It is really nice of them. We're doing really well so far with almost £4,000 raised.

'I passed my driving test yesterday and even my instructor donated £40.'

The owners of the Milton Arms pub have already promised to put £100 towards the fund and donate a percentage of the profits from each pint sold.

Shotgun Smile, which play a mixture of rock covers and their own music, will take to the stage at 9pm on Saturday. Entry is free.
