Pompey fan Paul Benet feels he is the luckiest man in Portsmouth as he holds the last ticket for the FA Cup final.
The 38-year-old turned up at Fratton Park in the hope of getting his hands on one of the remaining 700 tickets.

And his dream was realised when, at 4.30pm yesterday, he was sold the last seat for Pompey's historic match.

Grinning from ear to ear, Mr Benet, of Queens Road, North End, who has supported Pompey his entire life, said he couldn't believe his luck at snatching the final ticket.

'I came down to Fratton Park on the off-chance there were any tickets left. I can't believe there was. I'm shaking like a leaf,' he said.

'I have been really ill today so this has made my day a lot better.

'It's about time Pompey got into the FA Cup final – you can't compare this moment to anything.

'It would be the icing on the cake to bring the Cup home.'

Eager fans had queued through the night for the chance to watch the Blues battle against Cardiff City on Saturday after Pompey had released an extra 700 tickets.

Some even slept in boxes just so they could guarantee their seat at Wembley.

The remaining tickets to Wembley went on sale at 10am yesterday at the club's ticket office in Rodney Road.

The morning queues stretched all the way back along the road as word of the extra tickets spread around the city.

But some supporters had to be turned away though as the tickets were available only to those fans on Pompey's database who had bought a ticket to a Premier League game at Fratton Park since October last year.

It was estimated about 6,500 people clamoured to buy the final 700 tickets.
