After all the waiting, tonight's the night for our Instant Star showbiz hopefuls as they audition for the chance to perform on stage at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.
Singers, dancers and comedians of all ages have entered our talent contest and are busy rehearsing ready to impress the panel of judges.

We're looking for two talented performers to appear in 3Js to the Kings, a two-night variety show featuring the cream of local talent that will kick off the autumn season.

One winner will perform on Saturday September 20 and one on Sunday September 21.

Instant Star was launched last year, when 15-year-old singer Jamie Riley was picked to appear in a star-studded gala show alongside Kate O'Mara and Dillie Keane.

The Portsmouth schoolboy performed the Rat Pack classic Ain't That A Kick In The Head in front of 2,000 people.

3Js to the Kings features local professional singer and West End star Jack Edwards, dance examiner and professional choreographer Janet Williams and professionaldancer/choreographer Jacqueline Willis.

The two nights of superb song and dance will include numbers from Copacabana, La Cage Aux Folles, Disney and many more.

But there are two slots in the line-up that are waiting to be filled. So we're holding auditions tonight at the Salvation Army Hall in Albert Road, Southsea – just down the road from the Kings – from 6pm to 9pm.

Only those who have already registered and been allocated a number will be seen, so please do not turn up on spec. Each act will be asked to do a short set.
