Overjoyed twins are going to the same university – because they couldn't bear to be separated.Rosie and Lydia Stevens will be heading to the University of Sussex after getting their A-level results yesterday.
The 17-year-olds from Hollybank, Lee-on-the-Solent, are best friends and have applied to be in the same halls of residence when they start their degrees in September.

And incredibly they were one of three sets of twins at Bay House School in Gosport who received their A-level grades.

Lydia said: 'We've always been close and it's always been our plan to go to university together.

'We studied a lot together and really helped each other out along the way. It's great that we can stay together – I don't think we will ever get sick of each other.

'We both really love Brighton, so it seemed like the perfect choice and it's not too far away from home either.'

Rosie added: 'I thought I'd done a lot worse than I had, so it was so good to finally open our results. We both got the grades we wanted, there was such a feeling of elation. I just hope we get put in the same halls of residence.'

Lydia got three As in history, English language and English literature and will study history, while Rosie got As in history and English language and a B in English literature and will study international relations.

The two other sets of twins at Bay House School also did well. Joshua Lea got As in physics and maths and a B in further maths, while brother Dominic got As in biology, physics and maths.

Tom and Dan Green, of Sandringham Road, Fareham, were also celebrating. Tom got an A in geography and Bs in ICT and environmental science, while Dan scored an A in economics and business and Bs in ICT and geography.
