The displays at Cumberland House range from the geological formation of the land around Southsea and Portsmouth hundreds of millions of years ago to the wildlife of the present day. Cumberland House itself dates from the 1840s and so was one of the first buildings in this part of Southsea.

The main features are an extensive freshwater aquarium with examples of many local fish; a large diorama of the wildlife found on a riverbank; a geology, an Ice-Age display including a Polar Bear; a display of woodland life; birds on Farlington Marshes seen from a reconstructed hide; and the 'urban desert' - the animals living in your back garden.

During late spring and early summer visitors can walk through an enclosure with a wide range of British and European butterflies flying free.

Admission free. Car and coach parking nearby.
