Southsea Castle was built by Henry VIII between 1544 and 1545 to protect Portsmouth against possible French invasion.
Its eventful history is recounted in the Time Tunnel experience, starting with a short introduction, then eavesdropping on various historic events in the castle's history.
The battlements give panoramic views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight.
Open daily, April-September 10am-5.30pm, October 10am-5pm. Museum closed November to March.
Adult £2.50, Senior citizen £1.80, Child £1.50. Two children under 13 free with full paying adult. Concessions and group rates available. Booked UK school parties free.
