A massive man-made island, sitting a mile offshore from Portsmouth Harbour, Spitbank Fort is one of the most unusual military buildings ever constructed, now an intriguing venue for meals, parties, weddings and corporate events.

Virtually unaltered since 1870, Spitbank Fort offers an unrivalled atmosphere and some of the most spectacular views in the UK.

Wednesday & Thursday pub night: spitroast supper and tour of the fort. Pick-up from ferry pontoons at Gosport (7.30) or The Hard (7.45), return water-taxi 10.30. £16

Friday & Sunday party night: spitroast supper, tour and disco. Pick-up from Gosport or The Hard, 8pm, return water-taxi midnight. £22.50.

Sunday lunch with meal and tour: £16.
