BREEZY weather is believed to be to blame for a fire which threatened to blow up 10 gas canisters yesterday morning.
A team of 20 firefighters from Copnor, Southsea, Fareham and Cosham rushed to Tipner Wharf in Stamshaw after receiving a 999 call at 10.47am.

A pile of rubbish which had been burnt at Tamp Holdings the previous day had been reignited by the winds, and quickly spread to a brick-built building used for storage, threatening to engulf the cylinders nearby.

Loretta Spridgeon from Hampshire Fire and Rescue service said: 'The fire involved a curtain-sided trai-ler containing six propane cylinders and four butane cylinders. It was 100 per cent damaged by fire.

'The fire spread to the brick building and the second building.'

Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour damping down.

Ambulance crews treated a 14-year-old boy for smoke inhalation at the scene.
