The National Blood Service rewarded 31 people at the event in Winchester for giving blood over the years.
The proud recipients of the awards included Jean Herlock, of Cosham, for 100 donations, and then Portsmouth residents Christopher James, Eliz
abeth Byrne, Raymond Salisbury, and Bob Abraham, all for giving 75 donations each.
Donors reaching 75 donations were presented with a crystal plate and those celebrating 100 donations were rewarded with a crystal decanter.
Ruth Greenaway, spokeswoman for the National Blood Service, said only three per cent of donors reach their 75th donation, while less than one per cent make it to 100 donations.
'We are proud to reward these incredible people, these silent heroes, who have rolled up their sleeves so many times over the years to help save lives,' she said.
'Only four per cent of the eligible population donate blood so many people are indebted to these individuals who selflessly give their time for the benefit of others.
'You never know when you or someone you know will need blood so we really hope more people follow their example and do their bit by rolling up their sleeves and giving blood.'
