After a wet and windy start to September more than 1,700 people flocked to a special cruise show yesterday in search of their dream holiday.
The show, sponsored by The News, attracted regular cruise-goers as well as those who had never been on one before.

Visitors to the event at the Royal Marines Museum, Eastney, yesterday, also had the chance to book a cruise at special show rates.

One of the most popular draws was Celebrity Cruises, which sails to places such as Alaska, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.

A Cunard presentation about cruises from Southampton to New York also proved very popular with visitors.

News man David Hoggarth, who helped to organise the event with Petersfield-based Planet Cruise, said: 'It went really well. We had people queueing to get in about an hour before we even opened.

'We had all sorts of people booking cruises from £700 to £3,000.'

Since when has Alaska been a place in the sun? It's still winter in Oz & New Zealand. No wonder they're flogging cheap cruises!
Maybe they should try the B-B-B-Baltic!
